A completely annoying mouse issue

Linux Questions - Fri, 12/16/2022 - 06:46
I boot up login and my mouse woks as it is suppose to, then after I am logged in it stops working completely after a very short amount of time. I know it is not the mouse or my laptop because I eventually booted into Slackware and it works perfectly like it is suppose to. but everything is setup in Manjaro so I am having to stay in here to do what I am trying to do.

it is a sometimes it works then sometimes it does not .. then it does then it doesn't cycle

this is sysD so I don't know anything about the processes that might be stopping the mouse from working after it was. unplugging it then plugging it back in does not work.

edit:
Oh yeah, I am using XFCE4 desktop, currently installing windowmaker to see if it too will have conflicts or not.

edit 2

well trying to use another desktop ?WM did not work so it defiantly is something with the base system

It's all sweet and ol' fashioned here, but MY EYES, MY DAMN EYES BURN, where is the Nightmode???

Linux Questions - Fri, 12/16/2022 - 03:58
Hello I'm new here.

I think the Title says it all...

I have searched as good as i could under this Whiteness Torture, but "Nightmode" unbelievably just brought up 2 Posts which doesn't belong to the Forum here!

Therefore where is it? I need it...

Can One also just have green on black Linux Terminal Primitiveness instead of this "Win3.1" GUI Look?(Didn't want to be offending, Linux probably had such GUI's too, back in the Day, but until somewhat around 2003 i never was able to reach Runlevel5 with my Hardware, so i only know that when it comes to "Ancient" GUIs)

Thanks in Advance for fast Responses, so that i could pull off my Sunglasses --they're nice and do the Job on Sites without Nightmode, but on the other hand the 'OBEY' Signs everywhere distract a little Bit ;D--

ttyUSB0 access from user code: Debian

Linux Questions - Fri, 12/16/2022 - 03:19
I’m working with embedded boards that run Debian. They have an RS232 port (ttyS0) plus a USB port. I use USB for common FTDI serial adaptors (RS232), they appear as /dev/ttyUSB0 as you’d expect, and from picocom they work fine. However, when I access them from my own coded (C) applications they don’t. I know that my code is OK because it works fine with the ttyS0 port, the problem appears to be an access block in the OS between the USB serial and my application.

ttyUSB0 opens fine in my code, there are no error messages. Just no apparent connection to the serial lines.

Is there something I need to do to get ttyUSB0 working with my programs? Thanks for any advice

nf_tables kernel module

Linux Questions - Fri, 12/16/2022 - 02:09
Why do we not have nf_tables kernel modle built into the ARM kernel?
No nf_tables module under /lib/modules/*-armv8/.

I would try to rebuild the kernel myself, but -current is the only option for ROCKPRO64. So I do not really like to rebuild the kernel that often.

Enabled localized menu of xscreensaver-6.06

Linux Questions - Thu, 12/15/2022 - 23:04
Hi,

I tried re-compile xscreensaver package which included locale data of each languages.

Since I'm not heavy linux user, I have no idea whether following script is correct or not, but it worked anyway, so far.
Please let me know if there is anything I should fix in this script.
